Activities & Events Welcome to the Builders Club of Winnipeg Beach School! Our club is the very first Kiwanis-sponsored group in our school.  This year the club is the grade 5 class.  There are 22 students -- 11 girls and 11 boys.  We are learning to run our own meetings, following the basic rules of parliamentary procedure.  The Kiwanis Club of Gimli and District have given us our own banner, a gong and a gavel which we use with pride for every meeting.   We have an executive of four (listed below) and everyone else is on one of the following standing committees:   a)  Fundraising b)  Advertising c)  Correspondence d)  Scrapbooking   We have fun as we work and learn together.   Our major project this year is the making of checker boards.  Besides learning to work together, we will use mathematical concepts such as symmetry, measurement, etc.  On completion of our project, we plan to have some intergenerational exchanges with seniors in our community who traditionally love to play checkers.  We will keep you posted on developments in this area. We look forward to helping the Kiwanis Club in some of their projects this spring and summer.

Fundraising We were successful in borrowing a popcorn machine from Mr. Pellick, our principal’s husband.  We also bought some real movie theatre popcorn.  Our first popcorn sale took place on March 7 and we hope to sell popcorn at recess once a week.  We will first pay the school back for the purchase of binders for each member of our Builders Club.
