The board and staff of Evergreen Basic Needs Inc. want to acknowledge everyone who helped us with our anuual Christmas hamper program.
The assistance of Lakeview Resort -- which provided us the space for the collection and the wrapping of Christmas gifts -- was critical to our success. We also note that Lakeview management and staff conducted a Breakfast with Santa and a community Christmas party as fundraisers for Evergreen Basic Needs.
The annual hamper program was also assisted by the members and staff of the New Horizons 55-Plus Centre. The centre provided space for the storage and preparation of the Christmas hampers. The churches of Gimli and Winnipeg Beach area continued to provide food and monetary donations -- something they do not only during the holiday season but throughout the year.
We also appreciate the efforts of all of the service clubs, among them Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, Gimli and Winnipeg Beach legions, for the volunteers, food and monetary donations.
Then there were the many businesses that allowed us to put a donation box for the collection of food and toys in their places of business. We would especially like to thank Central Bakery in Gimli for donating all of the bread delivered this year as part of the Christmas Hamper Program.
As well, we acknowledge the generous support of Super A, Gimli IGA and GS Reykdal & Son for allowing us to purchase other food items for the hamper programs at bargain prices.
And who can forget the volunteers who helped with the picking up, sorting, wrapping, packing and delivery of the Christmas hampers -- especially the Cadets and the school students who add a strong, youthful enthusiasm to the day? Our elected officials also continued their support during the holiday season and throughout the year.
Finally, to everyone who donated money and-or food to our program THANK YOU because without you we would not be able to do what we do. As a community, we should be proud we all helped to make someone’s Christmas a little brighter. Together, we have worked to live up to the true meaning of Christmas, giving of ourselves to help others and for that we are grateful.
Thank you. Tony Pimentel Chairman Evergreen Basic Needs Inc.
